Storyboard

Final Post

I can't believe this is our last post! A whole semester has already gone by. Sophomore year is already halfway over with. This also means finals are right around the corner. This is a very stressful time for me because I have a lot of hard classes I have to study for and lots of study guides I have to fill out. I am going to miss computer class next semester. It was a lot of fun, and I learned a lot. Speech will be hard for me because I don't like speaking in front of classes, and I stutter when I get really nervous. I can't wait for Christmas break. It is going to be really fun, and I won't have to worry about tests or homework for once. I can just hang out with my friends. I hope everyone has a happy holidays!

Winter scene

Winter

My favorite season is winter! I love when it snows. Going sledding with my friends is fun. We always go to the golf course. It is really hilly and bumpy. I love drinking hot chocolate and bundling up under blankets. I like dressing up warm and building snowmen. My sisters and I always have a contest to see who can build the best one. Having snowball fights with other people are both exciting and painful. The things I don't like about winter is the cold. If there is not snow, I do not like being cold. I also don't like ice because I always seem to somehow slip and fall really hard! Overall, winter is a great season.

Things I am thankful for

I am thankful for many things in my life. It is hard to narrow it down to just a few. The most important things I am thankful for are my family and friends. Without my family and friends, I would not be the person I am today. I am also glad that everyone in my family is safe and healthy. This is very important to me. Another thing I am thankful for is God. He is the reason I am alive. With Him, anything is possible. One other thing I am thankful for is the great school I go to. Peoria Notre Dame is a great high school to get an education at. It is also a safe and friendly environment. I have made many friends and memories here, and I hope to make a lot more! The holidays always help me to take the time to realize all of the things I am thankful for.

Newscast Project Experience

I thought the newscast project was somewhat difficult. The directions were hard to understand and were a little unclear. We are still working on it. Right now, we are trying to figure out how to add our Day of the Dead video we found about their traditions. Our video basically sums up what we talked about in our newscast. The Day of the Dead is a very interesting Mexican Holiday. It is kind of like Halloween for us because people dress up. In the end, I think our video will be really good. We have been working really hard, and, so far, it looks pretty good. I can't wait until it is done!

Political Cartoon

I thought picking a political cartoon was somewhat difficult. Most of them I didn't understand or weren't funny. I chose this one because it was one of the few I actually understood. This picture shows that Hillary Clinton had a lot of experience, but Obama had hardly any. She might have had a lot of experience, but a lot of it was very controversial and negative. The presidential race was a long and tough one, but I am glad Obama won. I think he has a lot to offer.

Invention

If I could invent anything, it would be a time machine. It would be cool to go back in time and see how everything has changed. I wouldn't want to go forward in time because I don't want to know what is going to happen to me in my life. It would ruin my future and all of the challenges I have to overcome if I know how it is going to turn out. It would very interesting if someone could actually invent a time machine, but it would not surprise me because all of the new inventions we have now.

Inspirational Picture

I have always loved watching the sun set on the beach. I think this picture is very inspirational! The beach is always a peaceful and calming place to me. In this picture, the ocean is so pretty and care-free, but yet it is also dangerous and mysterious. The tide comes in and washes away all traces of footprints along the beach. This kind of represents problems being washed away and a fresh start. Whenever I go to the beach, I always just sit and watch the waves rolling in and think about the things on my mind. This picture mainly represents the natural power and beauty there is on earth.

Scary Movie Podcast Experience

The podcast project we did on the scary movie actually turned out to be fun! It was really hard and confusing at first. None of the directions made sense to me and just confused me even more. I had to ask other people for help, but it finally started to make sense. It was funny listening to the different jingles and voice effects. I also enjoyed putting the sounds together for the scary music effect. I can't wait to make the podcast video now!

Important Lesson

I have had many valuable lessons that I have learned from in my life. One time, I didn't study for a really big test because I had been super busy the night before. When it came time for the test, I did horrible! I got the grade I deserved. This taught me to study for all of my tests and quizzes, no matter how busy I am the night before. My grades have now improved because I study hard for everything and always turn my homework in on time.

Upcoming Report Card

I am not that nervous about the upcoming report card. I am just a little disappointed. I have been working so hard, but i just can't get an A in 3 of my classes, no matter how hard I work. I have at least a B+ or higher, so that makes me pretty happy. I am struggling in Spanish- Zidrich, Lit(H)-Laird, and Church History-Brown. I have good grades, and I always try hard. If I do bad on one test, I study harder for the next one. As long as my parents are happy about my grades, so am I. I try and check my grades online every week, so I know how I am doing in each individual class. So far this year, i am doing fairly well.

Peoria Logos

I really liked some of these logos but others i did not care for.
My first choice was:

This picture was my favorite. It stood out the most and caught my attention. I also like how colorful and creative it is.
My second choice was:

This picture also caught my attention. The way it is designed is interesting, and it is colorful.
My third choice:

This was my other favorite logo. It is very unique. To me it looks like a moving wave and reminds me of the beach. I also like the colors in it.
These were the three logos I voted for, and I hope one of them is chosen for the Peoria's logo.

iphoto Project

This week we have been working on an iphoto project. At first, it was hard, but once we learned how to do it it was really easy. I have had to start my project over twice because it got deleted. Some of the letters were hard to find, so I had to look them up online at home. I did my first and last name and six pictures that described me. I am almost done with my project, and so far it looks really good!

Physical Development

Physical goals are very important in every person's life. I plan to stay healthy and in shape this year. Since I do cheerleading and soccer, I need to eat healthy, which for the most part I do, except I will sneak some sweets in here and there. I also run to stay physically fit and keep up my endurance. The way you treat your health now afeccts how your health is later on in your life. This is why my health is so important to me. Staying healthy makes me feel good about myself and raises my self-esteem. This year, I plan to continue the healthy path I am on.

Homecoming Newsletter Progress

The newsletter that Kelly, Sophie and I have worked on for the past week is finally complete! There are four articles that we wrote, and we put a bunch of pictures on it. We uploaded pictures from my camera and Sophie's phone from all of the different Homecoming week activities. Our newsletter is really cool. At first, we had a lot of trouble printing it, but we finally got it to print today. The hardest part of the newsletter was finding out all of the scores from the different sports from Homecoming week. Overall, this project was really fun, and has been by my favorite project!

Newsletter Assignment

This week we are making a newsletter about the upcoming events for Homecoming. Each group has three people. I am with Sophie and Kelly. This project seems like a lot of fun, and I can't wait to get started. We have some good ideas and want to get started soon. I don't really know what to do, but hopefully when we get started it will be pretty easy. I also can't wait to see some of the other newsletters!

Intellectual Development

I have many goals for my intellectual development for this year. I will start by keeping all of my folders organized. This will help me prioritize my classes better. I will complete and turn in all of my homework on time. Also, I will study hard for all of my tests and quizzes. Another important thing is to not be late to any classes. One thing I need to work on is to follow directions properly. So far this year, I have done good in all of these areas.

Saints Project

This week we have been working on a new project. It requires making a powerpoint, which I have done before. It was easy for me because I already knew what I was doing and was familiar with the program. My saint was Mary Magdalene who is very well known, but I actually learned new facts about her that I never knew before. Each project is a learning experience for me.

Emotional Development

I have many goals on how I should nurture my emotional development for this year. I should do this by starting to realize the important things in life and not to take anything for granted. I should start respecting my family and friends more. Also, I should try to be the best person I can be. All of these things will help shape me to be a better person emotionally.

Storyboard

This week we learned how to make a storyboard. At first, it was really confusing but then I got the hang of it. It was actually really fun. I liked how we could choose whatever song we wanted instead of being limited to a few. This was a fun project, and I learned a lot.

Spiritual Development for This Year

I have many goals for this year on how I plan to nurture my spiritual development. I should start by going to Church more often. This will help me get closer to God. Also, I should start reading the bible more often. I can start giving back to the community by doing more than the 100 required service hours. All of these things can help me develop better spiritually and as a person.

Computer Class

So far my classes this year are hard. One of them is my computer class. I feel like we are moving way too fast and are working on too many projects at once. I feel really overwhelmed by all of the assignments. Mac computers are new for me, so it makes it even harder. I think if we slowed down and worked on one thing at a time as a class, we would all understand better. But overall, sophmore year is fun!

Jellyfish

This summer was a lot of fun. I got the chance to go to Florida with Rachel, one of my friends. It was a very exciting trip. In Florida, we went to the beach everyday. It was jellyfish season where we were, but we did not know that at the time. One day, we were swimming in the ocean and saw some little jellyfish, but we didn't think anything of it. Then, all of a sudden, we were surrounded by them. We tried to get out as soon as possible, but we were stung several times in the process. We were screaming so loud I think that everyone in the state heard us! We finally got out and saw how bad the stings were. We had red welts all over our body. It hurt really bad, but everyone else was laughing at us because of the scene we made. After that day, we would not get back in the ocean. We just stayed on the beach and swam in the pool. That was a vacation I will never forget!
